Alexander Novak visited a photo exhibition on the history of relations between Russia and Saudi Arabia
Deputy Prime Minister Alexander Novak has taken part in a reception organised by the Embassy of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia in Russia to mark the 100th anniversary of diplomatic relations between the two countries.
“Moscow and Riyadh have been promoting political dialogue at various levels which enabled the two countries to discuss the most urgent and sensitive issues the world is facing today in a positive and constructive manner and produce mutually acceptable solutions. Russia and Saudi Arabia are both committed to a just multipolar world order in which the interests of all nations are respected and they enjoy the right to follow their own path. Bilateral cooperation reached its biggest momentum at the most recent stage in its history, which is largely attributable to the trust-based contacts between the leaders of our two countries,” the Deputy Prime Minister pointed out.
Alexander Novak went on to say that working closely together on the global energy agenda within the OPEC-plus framework remained one of the key tracks in their bilateral partnership with the view to maintaining stability on the global oil market in the interests of both energy producers and consumers.
Cooperation in specific sectors has been demonstrating positive momentum with bilateral trade almost doubling over the past five years, while Russia became one of the Kingdom’s top five suppliers of food products.
In his remarks, the Deputy Prime Minister placed a special emphasis on the fact that Saudi investment in the Russian economy increased by 90 percent over the past year alone. The investment partnership between the Russian Direct Investment Fund and Saudi Arabia’s Public Investment Fund has been quite effective. An intergovernmental agreement introducing visa-free travel for holders of all kinds of passports has come into effect. Russia became the first country outside of the Gulf Cooperation Council to have an agreement of this kind with the Kingdom.
In addition to this, the two countries are exploring opportunities for launching joint projects in hydrogen energy, the peaceful use of atomic energy, digital technology for the oil and gas sector, and enabling Russian manufacturers to set up their production facilities in Saudi Arabia. Russia is ready to share its experience in organising major international events.
