The visa-free entry regime to Russia for Chinese citizens has been extended until 31 December 2027. The relevant Executive Order was signed by President Vladimir Putin.
“The Russian President’s decision to extend the visa-free entry regime for Chinese citizens until the end of 2027 is not merely a diplomatic step. It establishes unprecedented conditions for the expansion of business ties, tourism, youth exchanges, as well as collaboration in science and sports. The extension of visa-free travel once again reaffirms the strategic partnership enshrined in bilateral documents and implemented in practice. Recently, we marked the 25th anniversary of the signing of the Treaty of Neighbourliness, Friendship and Cooperation – measures such as these stand as a vivid testament to its continued effectiveness. Over the past year, approximately two million Russians visited China, while some one million Chinese citizens travelled to Russia. Notably, in the first quarter of this year alone, the number of Russian tourists to China increased by 60 percent, while the number of Chinese tourists to Russia grew by 25 percent. By the end of 2027, we anticipate up to six million mutual trips. I am confident that this will contribute to the economic growth of both countries and the expansion of exchanges between civilisations. The significance of this has been repeatedly underscored by President of the People’s Republic of China Xi Jinping,” said Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Chernyshenko, Co-Chair of the Russia-China Intergovernmental Commission on Regular Meetings Between Heads of Government.
