The meeting took place on the sidelines of the 16th INNOPROM International Industrial Exhibition.
Excerpt from the transcript:
Mikhail Mishustin’s meeting with Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan
Mikhail Mishustin: Good afternoon, Mr Pashinyan, colleagues, friends.
Your visit to Russia is your first foreign trip following the parliamentary elections in Armenia on June 7.
We look forward to the new Government ensuring the progressive development of Russian-Armenian relations in a spirit of friendship, neighbourliness, mutual respect, and consideration of each other's interests.
Despite turbulence in the global economy, Russia remains Armenia's leading foreign trade partner and investor.
Russian companies are operational in mining, mechanical engineering, transport, energy, including peaceful nuclear energy, and the digital economy.
Importantly, we would like to see the Armenian Government continue to provide the most favourable possible environment for Russian investors and ensure the protection of their rights and legitimate interests.
All practical issues of our cooperation remain continuously overseen by the intergovernmental commission co-chaired by Deputy Prime Minister Overchuk.
Today, you and I took part in a major Russian industrial exhibition, INNOPROM, where we familiarised ourselves with the latest solutions in the manufacturing industry, mechanical engineering, and scientific and technological innovation.
Without a doubt, Russian and Armenian business leaders will identify opportunities for joint projects, joint production, and industrial cooperation. This is particularly important to do with the involvement of small and medium-sized enterprises from Armenia and Russia.
We attach great importance to cultural and humanitarian cooperation with our Armenian partners and propose continuing the tradition of holding cultural days, exhibitions, and festivals, while strengthening educational and youth exchanges. Prospects are good for expanding direct interregional ties.
I am ready to discuss with you the full range of bilateral issues.
Mr Pashinyan, the floor is yours.
Nikol Pashinyan: Thank you very much, Mr Mishustin.
Let me begin by congratulating you on the success of the INNOPROM exhibition. Thank you for inviting me. Without a doubt, this meeting provides an excellent opportunity to discuss the entire spectrum of bilateral issues. The post-elections time, it is also a good opportunity to compare notes. Recently, we faced a number of problems. I hope we will discuss and resolve them. Both before and now after the elections, we have remained committed to expanding our relations with the Russian Federation. We are interested in remaining members of the Eurasian Economic Union and we want the mechanisms provided for under the Treaty on the Eurasian Economic Union to function as designed. I believe this serves the EAEU interests as it continues to expand.
As I pointed out earlier, we are approaching these discussions constructively, with the aim of addressing and clarifying all issues and all nuances. I hope that today's talks will enable us to resolve specific issues.
