Deputy Prime Minister of Russia Alexei Overchuk held a working meeting with Head of the Governmental Delegation of the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan and Minister of Higher Education Neda Mohammad Nadim on the sidelines of the 17th Russia-Islamic World: KazanForum International Economic Forum.
The head of the Afghan delegation noted that its composition, which includes representatives of 14 ministries and agencies of the Islamic Emirate, reflectshis country’s interest in the comprehensive development of mutually beneficial cooperation with the Russian Federation. Neda Mohammad Nadim thanked the Russian Federation for its official recognition of and trust demonstrated towards the current IEA Government, which has put an end to 40 years of military confrontation in his country.
Alexei Overchuk and Neda Mohammad Nadim confirmed their countries’ shared commitment to promoting trade and economic ties, including in matters related to customs administration, and sanitary and veterinary control, as well as to working together to tap Afghanistan’s transit potential.
The parties gave a positive assessment of the outcome of the first meeting of the Russia-Afghanistan Working Group on Trade and Economic Cooperation, held in Kazan on 13 May 2026, and agreed to continue the work of the governments of Russia and Afghanistan on implementing the agreements reached by the Working Group.
