During a working visit to the Republic of the Congo, Deputy Prime Minister Alexander Novak met with President of the Republic of the Congo Denis Sassou Nguesso.
During the meeting, the parties discussed prospects for bilateral cooperation across a wide range of areas, including energy, trade and economic relations, finance and banking, as well as industry and transport.
The Deputy Prime Minister expressed his appreciation for the attention the President of the Republic of the Congo gives to the Russia-Africa format, which reflects the realities and requirements of the rapidly developing Russia-Africa partnership and contributes to strengthening genuinely strategic relations. Alexander Novak also highlighted the work of the Joint Intergovernmental Commission on Economic, Scientific, Technical and Trade Cooperation as an important mechanism for expanding bilateral cooperation, noting that it provides a comprehensive platform for discussing key items on the Russia-Congo trade and economic agenda.
“Regular Russian-Congolese contacts underscore the high level of partnership between our countries. There is significant potential for further development of relations across the board, from the economy and trade to education, healthcare, science and culture. I am confident that today’s meeting will serve as another step towards deepening our strategic partnership,” Alexander Novak said.
As part of his working visit to the Republic of the Congo, the Deputy Prime Minister also held talks with Prime Minister of the Republic of the Congo Anatole Collinet Makosso. The officials discussed prospects for bilateral cooperation in trade and economic relations, as well as cooperation in the social sphere.
