Dmitry Chernyshenko meets with President of Cuba Miguel Diaz-Canel Bermudez
Russian Deputy Prime Minsiter Dmitry Chernyshenko met with President of Cuba Miguel Diaz-Canel Bermudez during the Prime Minister’s working visit to Havana.
Miguel Diaz-Canel Bermudez praised Dmitry Chernyshevko’s trip to Santiago de Cuba and expressing respect for the memory of Fidel Castro which testifies to strong friendship between the two countries.
“We set a high value on your visit in view of the international situation and the tensions our two countries are subjected to. In the context of all this, we give a special focus on promoting relations and reinforcing our cooperation. These ties are crucial for our common dealing with the current challenges,” the Cuban President said.
Deputy Prime Minister expressed gratitude to Miguel Diaz-Canel Bermudez for his warm welcome and hospitality.
“This year marks the 65th anniversary of resuming diplomatic relations between our countries, which is a proof of our strong friendship. We are also looking forward to seeing you in Moscow in May for celebrations of the 80th anniversary of Victory in the Great Patriotic War. We are always happy to see you in Russia," Dmitry Chernyshenko emphasised.
He told the President of Cuba that alongside Deputy Prime Minister Ricardo Cabrisas, he had chaired the 22nd meeting of the Intergovernmental Commission on Trade, Economic, Scientific and Technical Cooperation.
At present, work continues to launch pilot projects in agro-industrial complex, energy, industry, tourism and trade, intended to achieve economic effect in the medium term.
Russia is addressing both new and existing projects. There is a growing number of Russian investors. In particular, the Moscow government is interested in the projects on supply of Moskvich cars and construction of a hotel in Cuba.
The parties expressed their confidence in further strengthening and promoting comprehensive cooperation between Russia and Cuba and stressed that all the projects will be successfully completed through their joint efforts.
