The meeting was held in preparation for the Government’s annual report to the State Duma.
Mikhail Mishustin’s opening remarks:
Mr Slutsky, colleagues.
We traditionally meet with you before the Russian Federation Government’s report in the State Duma. We have already exchanged views with your colleagues from the A Just Russia, New People and CPRF factions. We have yet to meet with United Russia.
During these consultations, we discuss the most important and pressing issues. These include support for veterans, servicemen and families with children. I would like to remind you that the President has declared this year to be the Year of the Defender of the Fatherland, and last year was the Year of the Family.
The ideas expressed by deputies often serve as the basis for adopting appropriate legislation on key issues that are important to our citizens. As the President noted, you, Mr Slutsky, always have proposals that are specific and practical in nature. We see this approach in your cooperation with the Government in the preparation of legislative initiatives, at parliamentary hearings, during speeches by heads of ministries and agencies in the Duma.
The LDPR faction is attentive to the voters’ requests. You endeavour to help people protect their rights. During the previous meeting, we spoke about assistance to participants in the special military operation. For our part, we supported your joint initiative with other factions to expand opportunities for our defenders of the Fatherland and their families to receive free legal assistance, including their representation in courts, government bodies and organisations.
You also pay great attention to inter-factional work. Together with other deputy associations, you have established the legal basis for the operation of children’s early physical development centres, including for preparing them for their future sporting careers. It is important that children train there under the supervision of teachers, and in well-prepared premises that meet all the requirements. Such centres are already being actively created, and the necessary decisions have been taken.
The functions of professional sports leagues have also been expanded thanks to the efforts of your deputies. They can now hold tournaments at all levels, regardless of international federations, and also certify referees.
I would also like to emphasise your constructive position in approving the federal budget. Your proposal to allocate three billion roubles for the development of design documentation required to expand output in a number of industries received general parliamentary approval.
Another important topic addressed by your faction is assistance to small and medium-sized businesses.
On your initiative, the companies that sell books for children and young people as well as educational, reference and educational literature in general have received an extension of support until the end of 2027. Such organisations can take advantage of, among other things, tax benefits and grants to ensure that the publications they need in practice remain available and diverse. They can also receive assistance with information and property issues.
According to the tradition established by the founder of your party, the Liberal Democratic Party of Russia, Vladimir Zhirinovsky, you are in permanent working contact with the Government. This gives you the opportunity to put into practice the requests that your deputies receive from their electorate.
Mr Slutsky, I am sure that today’s meeting will make our cooperation even more effective.
