Mikhail Mishustin’s remarks:
Colleagues, friends, good afternoon.
Before we get down to work, I would like to congratulate our colleague, the Prime Minister of Kazakhstan, on his birthday. Mr Bektenov, dear Oljas, I wish you strong health and further success in developing the integration in Eurasia, as well as personal happiness and all the best.
We are holding the fourth meeting of the Intergovernmental Council this year. Over the first three quarters, the growth of the gross domestic product of the Eurasian Economic Union amounted to over 4.5 percent. Industrial production increased by approximately the same amount. Retail increased by almost 8 percent, and passenger transportation by almost 7.5 percent.
By coordinating our efforts, we can achieve even greater results, first of all, in such priority areas as the technological sovereignty of the union.
We have launched a supranational mechanism for subsidising joint projects from the union budget. It is already starting to work. We have to start informing businesses about the terms and advantages this measure envisages, so that companies understand clearly that they can count on getting real assistance and begin to more actively engage in setting up advanced production. Thus, it will be possible to build up existing capacities, trade, and mutual investments, as well as increase the export of products manufactured in the union.
We will continue working to ensure cooperation between the five countries, which the joint execution of the Comprehensive Plan for the Development of Eurasian Transport Corridors aims at.
It is necessary to consistently introduce up-to-date solutions in the logistics industry to increase the capacity of existing routes and the volume of passenger and cargo flows.
The union e-commerce market is growing steadily. Marketplaces are gaining popularity.
The five countries’ heads approved amendments to the Customs Code, which will significantly facilitate the declaration processes and the procedure for moving goods purchased via online platforms across the union border. We call on our partners to promptly complete the ratification of the relevant protocol.
We also propose establishing an intra-union dialogue on low-carbon development to align our positions on adaptation to global climate change.
Colleagues,
Last year, the leaders of our countries adopted the Eurasian Economic Path Declaration. It is important to finalise the roadmap on its execution as quickly as possible and get down to its practical implementation.
1 January will mark the 10th anniversary of the Eurasian Economic Union. Throughout all this time, our cooperation has been consistently expanding despite various external challenges.
I am confident that together we will fully implement the union’s integration potential to strengthen the economy of each member and improve life in all five member states.
In conclusion, I would like to thank our Armenian partners for their fruitful chairmanship this year. Of course, I also wish our Belarusian colleagues, who will chair in the coming year, good luck and success.
