Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Chernyshenko held a meeting with Executive Vice President, Vice President for Economy, Minister of People’s Power for Petroleum of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela Delcy Rodriguez. The parties discussed bilateral cooperation, the structure of the Intergovernmental Russian-Venezuelan High-Level Commission, and the development of new projects.
The Russian deputy prime minister presented Delcy Rodriguez with the Order of Friendship, awarded by President of Russia Vladimir Putin’s executive order, congratulated her on her appointment as Minister of Petroleum, and expressed confidence that her activities will contribute to further strengthening the strategic partnership between the two countries.
“Russian-Venezuelan cooperation is on the rise. This can be proven by intense dynamics of bilateral contacts and mutual support in the face of Western pressure on our countries. The forthcoming meeting of the countries’ leaders summit meeting will be an important step towards further strengthening relations. We will be happy to host President Nicolas Maduro in Moscow this year. Since the establishment of the Intergovernmental Russian-Venezuelan High-Level Commission, the parties have managed to achieve significant success in various areas of cooperation, as evidenced by the signing of over 70 bilateral documents in 2021–2023. We will pay increased attention to their practical implementation,” Dmitry Chernyshenko stressed.
Venezuela is Russia’s priority as a BRICS partner country candidate. Under the Russian presidency, work is underway to establish a new category, partner states, and agree on a list of candidates for it.
Delcy Rodriguez expressed her gratitude for the award, calling it evidence of a great contribution to the common cause.
“I believe that cooperation between Russia and Venezuela will become an important step towards creating a new world, where our nations will be able to build a promising future. Russia, China, and India are important allies of ours in this matter. Today, we have held a series of productive meetings that highlighted our determination to strengthen the ties between the two countries. Venezuela fully intends to further develop cooperation with Russia,” she noted.
Ms Rodriguez also noted President Vladimir Putin’s contribution to the progress in the Russian-Venezuelan relations.
In conclusion, the Russian deputy prime minister expressed his confidence that today’s meeting would encourage the further development of bilateral trade and economic relations, and also invited the Venezuelan delegation to take part in the Russia — a Sports Power International Sports Forum, which will take place on 17–19 October in Ufa.
Since 2024, Dmitry Chernyshenko has headed the Russian part of the Intergovernmental Russian-Venezuelan High-Level Commission.
