On 13 July Deputy Prime Minister of the Russian Federation Alexei Overhcuk paid a working visit to Baku, the capital of the Republic of Azerbaijan.
During his visit Mr Overchuk was received by President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev. They discussed ways of promoting bilateral trade and economic cooperation in transport, agriculture and other areas.
The officials reviewed issues of organising a Russian business mission to Azerbaijan with a view to promoting economic ties. They emphasised special interest in renewable energy sources, the environment, use of water resources, and the construction and development of transport infrastructure.
The officials also reviewed the prospects for developing the North-South international transport corridor and improving the performance of checkpoints at the Russia-Azerbaijan border.
They also discussed issues linked with the activities of the trilateral working group co-chaired by the deputy prime ministers of the Republic of Azerbaijan, the Republic of Armenia and the Russian Federation.
