Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Chernyshenko discussed science, education and youth policy issues with the students and heads of Russian university branches in the Republic of Uzbekistan. He also had a working meeting with Aide to the President of Uzbekistan Saida Mirziyoyeva.
When speaking at the local branch of MGIMO University of the Foreign Ministry of Russia, the Deputy Prime Minister noted that MGIMO University, which marked its 80th anniversary this year, can rightfully be proud of its graduates, who are enjoy great demand not only in Russia and Uzbekistan but also around the world.
He also recalled that the 16th BRICS summit was recently convened in Kazan, with President of Uzbekistan, Shavkat Mirziyoyev, participating in the proceedings.
“As President of Russia Vladimir Putin observed, BRICS encompasses like-minded nations, sovereign countries representing diverse development models, religions, authentic civilisations, and cultures. All our nations advocate for equality, good neighbourliness and mutual respect, the establishment of high ideals of friendship and harmony, and universal prosperity and well-being. They demonstrate a responsible attitude towards the future of the world through deeds, not just words. The youth of Russia and Uzbekistan are united by shared spiritual and moral values. Young individuals from our countries exhibit a growing mutual interest in creativity for the benefit of the well-being and prosperity of our nations,” said Dmitry Chernyshenko.
The Deputy Prime Minister emphasised that a harmoniously developed individual today requires not only the acquisition of knowledge but also maintaining excellent physical condition, and he described the phygital format and the Games of the Future.
The event was also attended by Alexei Chekunkov, Minister for the Development of the Far East and Arctic, who delivered a lecture on the development of the Far East.
The Deputy Prime Minister discussed prospects for enhancing ties between Russia and Uzbekistan in the sphere of research and educational cooperation with the heads of branches of Russian universities.
Odil Abdurakhmanov, head of the Social Development Department of the Presidential Executive Office of Uzbekistan, also greeted the participants of the event. The meeting was moderated by Konstantin Mogilevsky, Deputy Minister of Science and Higher Education of Russia.
“Our discussion today is dedicated to improving the quality of professional training for Uzbekistan’s rapidly expanding economy in the branches of leading Russian universities. We examined advanced educational practices, their replication prospects, the contribution of industrial partners, and, naturally, pre-university preparations. Effective cooperation between university branches and schools is crucial, both in terms of the selection of applicants and their extensive training in the Russian language and prerequisite courses,” the Deputy Minister noted.
As part of the Deputy Prime Minister’s working visit, he met with Saida Mirziyoyeva, Aide to the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan. The parties discussed projects in the sphere of education, Russian language teaching programmes, the expansion of cooperation in research, and collaboration in the information environment. Dmitry Chernyshenko extended an invitation to Uzbek scientists to participate in the flagship event of the Decade of Science and Technologies in Russia – the Congress of Young Scientists, scheduled for 27–29 November in Sirius.
Continuing the visit, Dmitry Chernyshenko assessed the infrastructure of School No.5, School No.21, and the IT Park, visited the Holy Assumption Cathedral Church, and held a meeting with Metropolitan Vikenty of Tashkent and Uzbekistan.
At School No.5 in Tashkent, all education is conducted in the Russian language. The Deputy Prime Minister toured the premises, conversed with the staff, and attended a literature class. Following the visit, Deputy Prime Minister left a message.
“Gratitude and admiration to the wonderful staff of School No.5, with hope for future encounters with you and your graduates on the path of implementing commonwealth projects and fostering relations between the Republic of Uzbekistan and the Russian Federation,” Dmitry Chernyshenko inscribed in the distinguished visitors’ book.
