Deputy Prime Minister Alexander Novak had a meeting
with Executive Vice President, Minister of the Economy, Finance and Minister of Oil of Venezuela Delcy Rodriguez on the sidelines of the Russian Energy Week
international forum.
“Venezuela remains Russia’s reliable partner and ally in Latin America and across the world. We share a strategic relationship based on our shared commitment to building a multipolar world order with better justice for all, and hold coinciding positions on most global matters, while seeking to promote mutually beneficial cooperation in trade, the economy, lending and finance, investment, cultural and humanitarian affairs,” the Deputy Prime Minister pointed out.
The two parties discussed their interactions in the oil and gas sector, including efforts to coordinate their positions within the Gas Exporting Countries Forum and OPEC+, as well as the terms and conditions for supplying equipment for Venezuela’s projects in the fuel and energy sector. They went on to explore opportunities for undertaking joint projects involving the use of nuclear technology outside of the power generation sector, such as in healthcare, agriculture, education and manufacturing as part of an effort to expand cooperation in the peaceful use of nuclear technology. The participants in the meeting also discussed efforts to promote settlements in national currencies in trade, as well as their relations in finance and lending.
Russia’s Deputy Prime Minister said that bilateral trade was following an upward trajectory, having increased by almost 50 percent over the past six years. Trade surged by 80 percent in the first seven months of 2024 compared to the same period last year. During the same period, the number of Russian tourists who visited Margarita Island reached 12,000.
