Russian Deputy Prime Minister together with Head of Tatarstan Rustam Minnikhanov had a working meeting with Deputy Prime Minister of Kazakhstan Serik Zhumangarin at the annual international economic forum Russia – Islamic World: KazanForum.
“We value our brotherly relations with Kazakhstan of many years which have a strategic nature. Last year alone, our leaders met six times; this indicates a mutual interest in maintaining a close and trusting dialogue between Russia and Kazakhstan. There are also various mechanisms of interstate communication between our countries. The main instrument is the Intergovernmental Commission on Cooperation between Russia and Kazakhstan. I would like to thank the leadership of the Republic of Kazakhstan for strengthening friendly relations and openness to dialogue, which will allow us to achieve new successes in many areas in the future,” Marat Khusnullin said.
Russia is one of Kazakhstan’s major trade and economic partners. At the end of last year, mutual trade rose to $28.5 billion. This is facilitated, among other things, by the active development of the International North-South Transport Corridor. Joint work is underway to upgrade its infrastructure, increase terminal capacity and rolling stock, and create favourable conditions for carriers.
Also on the sidelines of the forum Deputy Prime Minister met with Head of the Republic of Mordovia Artyom Zdunov to discuss the socio-economic development of the region and the implementation of state programmes and infrastructure projects to improve citizens’ living standards.
In addition, Marat Khusnullin held a meeting with the Head of the Spiritual Assembly of Muslims of Russia Albir Krganov.
At the Russia Halal Expo exhibition, the Deputy Prime Minister viewed the stands of Russian regions: the Donetsk People’s Republic and the Republic of Adygea, as well as the Kirov, Volgograd, Ryazan, Tomsk, Penza, Rostov, and Ulyanovsk regions.
