The meeting took place as part of Mikhail Mishustin's working visit to Turkmenistan.
Excerpts from the transcript:
Mikhail Mishustin: Thank you, esteemed Mr Berdimuhamedov.
I would like to thank you for the excellent organisation of the visit. Indeed, this is my first visit to Turkmenistan as the Prime Minister. Using this opportunity, I would like to convey to you the warmest, most sincere words from President of Russia Vladimir Putin.
Very recently, you discussed with him issues on the bilateral agenda. The Declaration on Deepening Strategic Partnership, signed on 10 June, determined the strategic vector for the work of our governments that should implement its main ideas.
First – I consider this the most important task – we should increase our trade and economic cooperation. Our annual trade is about $1 billion. This is too little. We believe this figure does not correspond to the potential of Turkmenistan and the Russian Federation. We will look for new opportunities in all areas.
We are actively cooperating in machine building, energy, the oil-and-gas sector, agriculture, the digital economy and a number of other areas.
Mr Berdimuhamedov, we have brought a very big delegation from Russia. The idea that occurred to both countries – to establish a Russia-Turkmenistan business forum – has received a very serious response in Russia. Over 400 business people and entrepreneurs arrived in Ashgabat. Yesterday, they actively worked with their colleagues from Turkmenistan. I also attended the forum and spoke there. I hope this will provide fresh impetus for our cooperation.
Thank you very much. I am ready to discuss with you all issues on our bilateral agenda.
