The
Russian Ministry of Health has reregistered the maximum sales price of the
Sputnik V vaccine. One dose of the vaccine, which has two components, now costs 866.81 roubles plus VAT.
The
Sputnik V vaccine is widely used for mass vaccination against COVID-19 and is
listed among vitally important medications, with the state controlling its
price.
“It
became possible to lower the price due to the vaccine’s improved and optimised
production process and a significant increase in production volume in order to
conduct a nationwide vaccination campaign,”
Minister of Industry and Trade Denis Manturov said, adding that the vaccine
will have the same price regardless of where it was produced.
“Vaccine
production amounts to the state’s social order for the national pharmaceutical
industry. I would like to note that the registered maximum sales price applies only
to the vaccine used for large-scale national state vaccination campaigns,” Mr
Manturov said.
On 20
February, Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin chaired a meeting whose participants
discussed the vaccine production, pricing policies and delivery issues. “We must
make sure that the pricing procedure is effective and transparent, and the price
is well-substantiated. Our main goal is to help people, rather than obtain high
profits by selling this hugely important medicine,” Mr Mishustin noted.
