President of the United Arab Emirates Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan received Denis Manturov, First Deputy Prime Minister of Russia, who is leading the Russian delegation to the UAE. The meeting addressed topical aspects of cooperation between Russia and the UAE in trade, economic, cultural and humanitarian areas.
Denis Manturov conveyed to Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan greetings and best wishes for the UAE's further development from President of Russia Vladimir Putin. In turn, Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan conveyed words of greetings to Russian President Vladimir Putin, expressing his hope for the further development and prosperity of Russia and its people.
First Deputy Prime Minister told the President of the UAE about the Russian exposition at the IDEX-2025 International Defence Industry Conference and Exhibition, which starts on February 17 in Abu Dhabi. Here, 40 Russian companies will present their products on an area of more than 2,000 square metres.
Denis Manturov noted a dynamic development of cooperation between the two countries in tourism. According to the last year results the number of Russian tourists, who visited the UAE, was close to two million. UAE citizens also displayed a growing interest to Russia: over 67,000 tourists from the UAE visited our country in 2024. The increase in tourist exchanges is promoted by the expansion of direct air links. Currently, more than 300 regular passenger flights a week are made between Russian and UAE cities, which is 1.5 times more than six months ago. The flight map is being extended – today it includes already 25 routes.
During the meeting they also discussed interaction in sports, including holding of the second international multi-sports tournament Games of the Future in the Emirates in 2025 (the first tournament was held in Kazan in 2024 on the instructions of President Vladimir Putin). Denis Manturov noted Russia’s readiness to share its experience and provide maximum assistance in organising the Games.
Special attention is given to cooperation in higher education, active work is also underway to open the Russian university in Abu Dhabi.
