The meeting took place during the working visit of the Prime Minister of the Russian Federation to the Republic of Kazakhstan.
Excerpts from the transcript:
Kassym-Jomart Tokayev: Mr Mishustin,
It is a great pleasure to welcome you to our capital. I believe this visit holds significant importance in advancing the implementation of the agreements reached during the state visit of President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin on 27 November last year. That visit was truly historic in nature, resulting in pivotal accords. We therefore regard your visit as a continuation of the policy pursued by the Russian Federation towards Kazakhstan and, naturally, place great hopes on the outcomes of the negotiations between our two governments. I have received preliminary information on the negotiations you had, both formal and informal, and I view these developments positively.
I would like to take this opportunity to convey my greetings and profound respect to President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin. I look forward to meeting him during the celebrations marking the 80th anniversary of the Great Victory. I have gladly accepted the invitation to attend. Of course, we have also scheduled commemorative events in Kazakhstan on 7 and 8 May. Immediately following these domestic celebrations, I will depart for Moscow.
A number of issues between our countries are being successfully resolved. Based on the updates I have received, the items on the agenda are entirely feasible to address, with no fundamental disagreements between our sides. I am confident that we must continue advancing our regional cooperation and collaboration.
During Vladimir Putin’s visit to Kazakhstan, the regional forum in Ufa was held with notable success. This year, we plan to convene another forum in Uralsk, in Kazakhstan. I firmly believe this format of engagement should be maintained, as it has proven highly beneficial.
I would like to give you the floor.
Mikhail Mishustin: Mr Tokayev, colleagues,
Thank you for the warm welcome.
I would like to reciprocate by conveying the warmest regards from President of Russia Vladimir Putin. Indeed, his historic state visit here last November was closely followed in our country. Similarly, you, Mr Tokayev, visited Russia, St Petersburg, last December.
The Forum of Regions holds considerable importance for us. Direct interaction between Russian regions and their Kazakh counterparts, as you noted, is a crucial mechanism. We remain committed to enhancing its effectiveness in every possible way.
I would like to mention that together with my colleague, Olzhas Bektenov, we have thoroughly reviewed the entirety of our joint agenda over the past two days. Mr President, you remarked that no acute issues remain unresolved. Today, we discussed approximately 30 matters in various forms and reached consensus on all. I extend my gratitude to our Kazakhstani colleagues for their constructive approach. We have agreed on all issues. As you emphasised, Kazakhstan is an ally of the Russian Federation. Our relations are founded on friendship and mutual respect.
Undoubtedly, we await your presence in Moscow, Mr President, for the 80th anniversary celebration of the Great Victory.
Thank you.
Kassym-Jomart Tokayev: Thank you.
I am aware that 16 January
marked five years since the beginning of your tenure as Prime Minister. These
have undoubtedly been challenging years, yet I must acknowledge that the Russian Government has adeptly navigated all difficulties.
