A wide range of economic cooperation issues among the CIS member states was discussed.
Deputy Prime Minister Alexei Overchuk took part in a meeting of the Economic Council of the Commonwealth of Independent States, held via videoconference on 22 September.
The parties considered current issues of trade and economic cooperation among the CIS member states. They focused on the performance of the CIS industry-specific cooperation bodies in the economic sphere in 2018-2023.
The action plan for 2024-2025 to implement the strategy, “Population Health of the CIS member states” was endorsed.
The meeting participants reviewed the draft Interstate Programme of Cooperation of the CIS member states in the field of geodesy, cartography, spatial data, geo-information technologies, remote sensing of the Earth, cadastral registration and registration of the rights to immovable property for the period until 2026.
The Economic Council resolved to grant the state-run non-profit company Roskadastr the status of base scientific and technical institution of the CIS member states in the field of geodesy, cartography, cadastre, spatial data and geo-information technologies.
A draft set of measures was discussed to implement the Agreement on Cooperation of the CIS member states in the mining and metallurgical industry of 28 October 2016, prepared to enhance the joint activities of the CIS member states in the sectors of ferrous and non-ferrous metallurgy. The document will be submitted to the CIS Council of Heads of Government for consideration.
In addition, a report on the activities of the Interstate Council for Cooperation in Science, Technology and Innovation in 2018-2022 was reviewed, along with a draft regulation on technological platforms within the framework of the Interstate Programme of Innovation Cooperation of the CIS member states for the period up to 2030.
The next meeting of the CIS Economic Council is scheduled for 8 December 2023 in Moscow.
