Russian regions are to get about five billion roubles in support.”
Excerpts from the transcript:
Mikhail Mishustin: Good afternoon, colleagues,
Although the spread of the COVID-19 infection remains a challenge, it is necessary to continue administering the required treatment to patients with other serious diseases, especially children. In some cases, they need expensive medications that have no Russian-made equivalents. This includes Oncaspar (Pegaspargase), used to treat acute leukemia in children.
The Government has already provided the Moscow Endocrine Plant with a subsidy of over 500 million roubles for purchasing this medication. The enterprise will import and deliver this preparation. Next year, the medication will also be delivered to medical institutions. For this purpose, the Government is extending the duration of regulations for subsidising Oncaspar purchases. It is important that children receive the required treatment on time.
The healthcare system is completely prepared for treating COVID-19 patients. We have deployed additional hospital beds, including those with oxygen generators and ventilators.
So far, vaccination is the most reliable method for protecting people and their family and friends. We have created all the necessary conditions so that our citizens will have no trouble getting the jab.
In all, 43 million people have been vaccinated to date, and they account for almost 33 percent of the country’s population. Therefore, we cannot stop, all the more so as enough preparations are currently being manufactured. Over 90 million complete kits are already available. Vaccine shortages are out of the question.
The regions have over 6,200 vaccination centres, as well as nearly the same number of mobile teams and over 2,000 mobile vaccination sites.
Timely revaccination is also essential, and this measure will make it possible to prevent a negative scenario. The President of Russia emphasised this at a Government meeting.
The situation is aggravated by a seasonal flu outbreak. Today, this is especially important. All of us must be particularly careful about our health, and we should not forget about those around us either.
Last Tuesday, the President chaired a meeting where additional measures to prevent the infection’s spread all over the country were discussed. The Government has decided to help regions which are actively fighting the COVID-19 pandemic, that have the highest testing and vaccination levels, as well as those with more hospital beds and the required equipment. Russian regions are to get about five billion roubles in support. The relevant resolution has been signed.
