The conference from 13−30 April 2021 was organised by the National Research University Higher School of Economics and Sberbank.
Mikhail Mishustin’s remarks:
Colleagues and friends,
I am delighted to welcome you to Moscow at the 22nd April International Academic Conference. Every year, this fascinating large-scale event brings together renowned scholars, leading experts, government and business representatives from different countries and regions for a constructive and open dialogue, exchange of opinions and research ideas. Participants discuss the results of major research and showcase their developments and technical solutions sought after by the economic industry and society.
This conference will cover a wide range of issues from such fields as macroeconomy, digitalisation, healthcare, urban development, demography, the labour market, cybersecurity and Arctic zone development. They all, directly or indirectly, concern members of the public. Forums like this one provide for a variety of potential solutions and help find the best option for the country’s development.
The Government is devoting a lot of attention to cooperation with the expert and academic communities. The proposals to be given today will be considered as part of this collaboration to create a new strategy for Russia’s socioeconomic development.
I am quite sure that our economy is over the most difficult stage of its adaptation to new challenges. Russia was the first country to develop a vaccine against COVID-19 and is extensively using it for giving jabs to the public to protect more and more people from this virus. We will gradually build herd immunity that will help us stop the spread of COVID-19 and speed up the recovery while eliminating the barriers that have been restraining trade and the economy.
I would like to wish all those taking part in the April International Academic Conference, productive work and engaging discussions. Today, you all are making your own contribution to the development and modernisation of our country and helping to solve the most topical economic and social challenges.
Good luck.
