Dmitry Medvedev: “In the first four months of the year, the volume of Eurasian Union’s domestic and foreign trade has grown by one fourth. All countries within the union, with no exceptions, have strengthened their position on foreign markets. The exports have increased by approximately ten percent. The commodity pattern is also changing for the best: increased have been exports of cars and equipment (by 34 percent), as well as food and agricultural production (by 26 percent), while the share of energy commodities is decreasing. It means that the volume of trade is becoming more evened out.”

Dmitry Medvedev’s remarks at the meeting
It’s been three months since we met in Kazan. We agreed to hold our meetings at least once every three months. Such a type of work plan is the best when it comes to reviewing accumulated matters and controlling the implementation of instructions.

According to economic statistics, there have been some concrete and positive results of our joint work. In the first four months of the year, the volume of Eurasian Union’s domestic and foreign trade has grown by one fourth. It means that the volume of trade is becoming more evened out.
Our task for the nearest future is to implement the road map prepared by the Eurasian Economic Commission to eliminate barriers in industry, agriculture, energy as well as technical regulation.
The agenda includes new promising directions of integration, in particular, the creation of a joint digital space in the union. Electronic technology is now part of all areas of life; Russia is working on this, too. At the end of July, I approved a programme on digital economy in Russia until 2024. However, we need such an integrated digital space not just in one country, but in the entire Eurasian Economic Union.
The digital agenda is also connected to the traceability of goods. We need a mechanism for this purpose too. Traceability should be common place and there should not be closed areas, it should and be extended to all fields of business activity. We expect that the interstate procedures to create such a mechanism to be completed.
It is necessary to continue work on the future pension agreement.
In the context of the creation of the integrated transportation space, a road map related to air transportation will be adopted in order to align costs for air transportation and airport services.
It is important to invite representatives from the CIS countries and the CIS Executive Committee to the Eurasian Union events, and to continue improving partnership relations by holding trade talks, including those on the creation of free trade zones with a series of countries which we have been discussing this with.
Next year, Russia will take up presidency in the Eurasian Union. We are already considering priorities.
Over a period of the last two years, some serious work has been done in the legal and regulatory area. It will be necessary to determine the further prospects of our Eurasian integration. During our presidency we plan to pay attention to both current issues, including the withdrawals and restrictions, and strategic tasks for the future in such areas as the support of exports, investment climate, labour standards, the innovative agenda and interaction with foreign partners.
