The current state and development prospects of Russian-Lao trade, economic, cultural and humanitarian cooperation were discussed.
Deputy Prime Minister Alexei Overchuk met with Deputy Prime Minister of the Lao People's Democratic Republic Saleumxay Kommasith in Moscow. The current state of the bilateral and multilateral agenda and prospects for strengthening trade, economic, cultural and humanitarian cooperation between Russia and Laos were discussed. Representatives of the two countries’ relevant ministries and departments took part in the talks.
“We are interested in maintaining the fast progress of the Russian-Lao relations at all levels,” Alexei Overchuk stressed.
The parties focused on the preparations for the visit of President of the Lao People's Democratic Republic Thongloun Sisoulith to the Russian Federation ahead of Victory Day. They had an in-depth discussion of the development of Russian-Lao relations in the trade and economic sphere, particularly noting the need to develop transport and logistics connectivity, as well as support for the establishment of business ties between representatives of the two countries’ business communities. They discussed cooperation in industry and the energy sector, as well as tourism.
The Deputy Prime Minister noted that the Lao People's Democratic Republic made a significant contribution to promoting the dialogue partnership between Russia and ASEAN in 2024, during its chairmanship of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations.
