Deputy Prime Minister Marat Khusnullin paid a working visit to the Republic of Uzbekistan to hold talks with President of the Republic Shavkat Mirziyoyev and to participate in a number of business meetings.
“Russia and Uzbekistan maintain friendly relations. The existing direct dialogue ensures constructive interaction, and emerging issues get resolved quickly. The economic cooperation continues to expand. During a bilateral meeting, the President of Russia and the President of Uzbekistan set an ambitious goal for the governments of both countries to increase mutual trade to $30 billion by 2030. Russia and Uzbekistan are working progressively to fulfil this task. In 2024, trade grew by 5.2 percent to $10.2 billion. Further development of transport infrastructure between Russia and Uzbekistan holds a lot of promise as well. We welcome continued joint efforts to expand the Russia-Kazakhstan-Uzbekistan-Afghanistan-Pakistan-Iran International Motorway. The North-South transport corridor is another important project. It is important to continue to expand and to properly integrate roads within the transport corridor,” Marat Khusnullin said.
During the working visit, Deputy Prime Minister toured Jizzakh Technology Park, which opened in 2023, and an exhibition of construction materials manufactured in Uzbekistan.
Deputy Prime Minister also visited the Victory Park memorial complex, where he laid flowers at the Ode to Fortitude monument in honour of Zulfiya Zakirova, who lost five sons on the fronts of the Great Patriotic War, and also left a note in the guest book.
“The complex made a strong impression on me. I am glad that I was able to visit it in the year of the 80th anniversary of Victory in the Great Patriotic War. May Victory Park forever remain a place that will remind the new generations of people about the victims of war and the feats of their forefathers. I am grateful to the Republic of Uzbekistan for preserving our common memory,” Marat Khusnullin said.
