Deputy Prime Minister of the Russian Federation Alexander Novak has undertaken a working visit to the Republic of Niger. This visit marks Mr Novak’s inaugural trip to the country in his capacity as Deputy Prime Minister. The Russian delegation accompanying him included representatives from various business sectors.
In Niamey, the capital of Niger, Mr Novak engaged in discussions with Ali Mahamane Lamine Zeine, the Prime Minister of the transitional period of the Republic of Niger. He also held talks with Abdourahamane Tchiani, the Leader of the Republic of Niger and President of the National Council for the Safeguard of the Homeland.
The discussions underscored the mutual recognition of both nations as significant partners.
During these meetings, both parties explored the potential for enhancing practical cooperation across several sectors, including energy, agriculture, infrastructure projects, geological exploration, and mineral resource development. Additionally, they examined opportunities for expanding cooperation in humanitarian areas such as education, culture, and sports.
“The second Russia-Africa Summit, held in St Petersburg last summer and attended by the Russian President alongside African leaders, has provided fresh momentum for our nation’s collaboration with African partners. Presently, we are actively developing joint projects of regional significance, aimed at improving the quality of life for people – such initiatives include enhancing access to electricity and the development of transport infrastructure,” stated Alexander Novak.
