Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Chernyshenko and Deputy Prime Minister of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam Tran Hong Ha co-chaired the 25th meeting of the Russian-Vietnamese Intergovernmental Commission on Trade, Economic, Scientific and Technical Cooperation.
The participants discussed cooperation in trade, the economy, manufacturing, energy, science and education.
“The previous meeting of the Russian-Vietnamese Intergovernmental Commission on Trade, Economic, Scientific and Technical Cooperation was held barely a year ago, but our countries have taken active steps since then to further strengthen our bilateral cooperation. The first visit President Vladimir Putin made to Vietnam in many years gave a fresh impetus to the development of bilateral ties, which is evident from the large package of documents and agreements signed during it,” Dmitry Chernyshenko noted.
The Russian Deputy Prime Minister expressed condolences over the consequences of the destructive typhoon that hit Vietnam, and conveyed Russia’s readiness to provide the necessary assistance.
Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Chernyshenko stressed the importance of strengthening bilateral relations with Vietnam and that of regular contacts at a high level.
“We actively work together with Comrade Tran Hong Ha within the mechanism of the Intergovernmental Russian-Vietnamese Commission on Trade and Economic Cooperation. We are maintaining a running dialogue. The Russian side of the Commission regards strengthening the comprehensive strategic partnership with Vietnam as Russia’s foreign policy priority in the region. We are committed to a progressive development of across-the-board cooperation in trade, the economy, science and technologies; we are ready to work on creating comfortable conditions for companies from Russia and Vietnam. It is there that we see the main driver of growth and intensification of our bilateral relations,” Dmitry Chernyshenko said.
In turn, Deputy Prime Minister of Vietnam Tran Hong Ha agreed that Russian-Vietnamese relations were actively developing despite all international upheavals.
“Our relations with the Russian Federation are of special nature. Our relations have reached the level of strategic partnership and are developing in a challenging international context,” he said.
He also noted Moscow’s contribution to his republic’s restoration and development, emphasising that Hanoi remembered this assistance.
In conclusion, Dmitry Chernyshenko and Tran Hong Ha signed the protocol of the 25th meeting of the Intergovernmental Russian-Vietnamese Commission on Trade and Economic Cooperation.
The Russian Deputy Prime Minister has also presented General Director of Biendong Petroleum Operating Company Ngo Huu Hai (from 2018 to 2023) with the Order of Friendship.
The Russian delegation comprised over 50 representatives of ministries, agencies and companies, including the Ministry of Economic Development, Ministry of Transport, Ministry of Education, Ministry of Industry and Trade, Ministry of Sport, Ministry of Science and Higher Education, and Ministry of Digital Development, Communications and Mass Media.
The sides have agreed to hold the Commission’s 26th meeting in the Socialist Republic of Vietnam in 2025.
