The Defence Minister has made a decision to dispatch funds and personnel of the Eastern Military District for the elimination of the aftermath of the flood in the Amur River Region.
Engineer units of the 35th Army of the Eastern Military District are being dispatched to the residential areas in the Zeisky District of the Amur Region which were most affected by the flooding.
More than 80 servicemen of the Eastern Military District and over 40 units of special engineering equipment have been engaged in the efforts to provide a crossing over the Urkan River, to repair the ruined roads, and to restore transport communications.
The flooding in the Amur River Region was caused by continuing showers and overspill from Zeya Hydropower Plant’s reservoir. It affected dozens of residential areas. Over 1,500 people, including 440 children, were evacuated. A state of emergency has been declared.
