Russia has extended the temporary ban on the export of certain goods and equipment for another two years, until the end of 2025. A resolution to this effect has been signed.
The export restrictions apply to technological and medical equipment, agricultural machinery, electrical equipment, turbines, nuclear reactors, fibre-optic cables, certain types of aircraft, radars, batteries, and metal processing equipment.
Export of these goods to all countries is prohibited with the exception of the Eurasian Economic Union member states.
At the same time, in accord with the President’s instruction, the document specifies a number of exceptions. The export restrictions will not apply to prototypes of medical devices previously imported into Russia for state registration.
In addition, the ban will not apply to refrigeration equipment, certain types of pump and several categories of vessels.
On the other hand, export restrictions on certain types of goods by strategic companies and their subsidiaries have been eased. The Government will be making decisions on the export of goods by such companies on the basis of proposals from relevant ministries and agencies.
The lists of goods and equipment temporarily banned from export outside Russia were compiled by the Government in March 2022. The decision was made in pursuance of the Presidential Executive Order On Application of Special Economic Measures in Foreign Economic Activity to Ensure the Security of the Russian Federation and is aimed at protecting the domestic market.
The new resolution extends the time period during which import restrictions can be imposed on seeds of certain types of crops from unfriendly countries until the end of 2025. These include seeds of potatoes, wheat, rye, barley, corn, soybeans, rapeseed, sunflower and sugar beet.
