Russian First Deputy Prime Minister Igor Shuvalov took part in the meeting.
Transcript of the beginning of the meeting:
Dmitry Medvedev: You are now experiencing a rather active political season. Of course, we are closely following the developments in your country. Certainly, this is a Ukrainian domestic affair, but, of course, it is very important to maintain stability, law and order in the country.
Nevertheless, we have agreed with the Prime Minister, and the Presidents have also agreed that, in order to continue our cooperation, we should make headway in a number of areas. Our Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Rogozin has recently visited your country. He has been to several enterprises, and he has assessed industrial co-production prospects and those for the defence and space industry. But we also have to move in other directions. Therefore, I hope that your current visit, your talks with Igor Shuvalov and your meeting with other partners will duly expedite the resolution of the issues in which we have probably failed to make such headway for a while. Ukraine remains a highly important strategic partner for us, and vice versa, because this predetermines the short-term and, hopefully, future agenda. I wish you every success.
