Russia’s Deputy Prime Minister Alexei Overchuk and Deputy Prime Minister -Foreign Minister of Turkmenistan Rashid Meredov co-chaired a meeting of co-chairs of the Intergovernmental Russian-Turkmen Commission on Economic Cooperation. Ashgabat, Turkmenistan, hosted the event that involved representatives of ministries, agencies and business circles of both countries.
The co-chairs of the intergovernmental commission heard current-performance reports by representatives of state agencies and companies and conducted a detailed exchange of opinions regarding possible joint headway on issues of mutual nterest.
“Mutual trade between Russia and Turkmenistan is posting some positive trends. In the first seven months of 2024, bilateral trade volumes soared by 58 percent on the same period of 2023, in terms of their value,” Alexei Overchuk noted.
As both countries are interested in maintaining highly intensive contacts and implementing various agreements and objectives, set by national heads of state, the co-chairs of the intergovernmental commission agreed to hold the next meeting of the Intergovernmental Russian-Turkmen Commission on Economic Cooperation in the first six months of 2025.
