During a working trip to Cholpon-Ata in the Kyrgyz Republic, Deputy Prime Minister Alexei Overchuk accompanied Prime Minister of Kyrgyzstan – Head of the Presidential Administration Akylbek Zhaparov at the ceremony of laying a time capsule in the foundation of Kyrgyzstan’s first wind farm, which the Rosatom group of companies will build in the Issyk-Kul Region.
Alexei Overchuk pointed out in his remarks that Russia and Kyrgyzstan were expanding cooperation in many spheres, in particular in the vital energy sphere. The construction of Kyrgyzstan’s first wind farm by Russia's Rosatom Renewable Energy and its subsidiary NovaWind Kyrgyzstan, which is part of Rosatom, will be co-financed by the Russian-Kyrgyz Development Fund. The fund is playing a major role in the Kyrgyz economy and is promoting bilateral cooperation by financing industry, construction and agriculture projects and other joint initiatives.
“The construction of a wind farm and the use of clean wind energy will help reduce dependence on non-renewable energy resources, which is extremely important in the modern world. The world has approached an energy transition, and the construction of such wind farms will improve the competitive environment and improve our standing in the global market,” the deputy prime minister noted. “The creation of new energy facilities will boost the socioeconomic development of the Issyk-Kul Region and Kyrgyzstan as a whole. The energy generated at this farm will help create new enterprises, jobs and infrastructure, as well as improve roads. Taken together, this will improve people's lives, enhance their living standards and promote Kyrgyzstan’s development.
This is also important to Russia. We would like to see the further economic and social development of the Kyrgyz Republic, which is our strategic partner and ally, and its fraternal people.”
