A wide range of issues on bilateral trade and economic cooperation was considered.
On 24 April, Deputy Prime Minister Alexei Overchuk held a working meeting with Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Economy and Development of Mongolia Chimed Khurelbaatar. The main agenda was the possibility of expanding trade and economic ties, investment cooperation, and the further implementation of joint projects to develop transport, logistics and energy infrastructure. The parties also discussed the need to expand humanitarian ties and develop the human dimension of the Russian-Mongolian dialogue, taking into account the cultural kinship and historical proximity of the peoples of the two countries.
The ministers exchanged views on the current situation in the world economy, the impact of ongoing global and regional changes in the geo-economic architecture of Eurasia, and measures to qualitatively improve the trade dialogue between Russia and Mongolia while taking into account the international obligations of the two parties.
During the meeting, the parties agreed that there is still a high trade imbalance against Mongolia, although in recent years mutual trade has increased. In this regard, the parties expressed the mutual desire to correct the existing imbalances, and harmonise and intensify trade relations.
