The meeting participants discussed ways to promote Russian navigation technologies on the global market for positioning services. They noted that Russia's Global Navigation Satellite System, GLONASS, is quite competitive internationally, and that the necessary conditions have been created for its widespread use, both in Russia and abroad. At the same time, the Foreign Ministry and the Federal Space Agency received instructions to intensify international cooperation in using satellite navigation and promoting Russian products on the international market for navigation services.
Participants also discussed the progress of the ERA-GLONASS project. Instructions were issued to several government agencies. The Ministry of Transport is to draft proposals on the necessary regulatory acts for the use of the ERA-GLONASS (emergency response) system. The Federal Registration Service has been tasked with working out plans for providing a universal cartographic resource for creating any kind of maps of Russia with the use of the universal coordinate system. These maps will be further used in all satellite navigation projects, including ERA-GLONASS.
