The meeting took place on the sidelines of the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation’s Heads of Government Council meeting.
From the transcript:
Dmitry Medvedev: Mr Abdullah Abdullah, colleagues,
We have an excellent opportunity here at the meeting of the SCO Heads of Government to talk and discuss the developments in your country. Naturally, we follow them very closely as Afghanistan has been Russia's long-time and very important partner.
Afghanistan certainly plays a key role for providing security and stability in the region, and I am very glad to meet with your again and share information on the current state of affairs.
Abdullah Abdullah: Thank you, Your Excellency, Prime Minister Medvedev.
I am also very happy to meet you on this occasion. Thank you for the time and opportunity, and thank you for your support for the peace process, and also for strengthening of the ties between both countries and both nations, which are becoming stronger as we move forward.
We have held elections and the outcome will be known in a few days time, or in a few weeks time, perhaps. Meanwhile, whatever may come after the elections, the ties and bonds of friendship and cooperation between our countries will continue.
