Deputy Prime Minister Arkady Dvorkovich held a meeting with his Belarusian counterpart Mikhail Rusy. During the meeting they reached an agreement on coordinating action to eliminate and prevent African swine fever and other dangerous animal diseases.
They also discussed the issue of synchronising veterinary legislation and practice in Russia and Belarus with the laws of the Customs Union.
The sides decided to establish in the near future a uniform system of sanitary and veterinary control over all Russian-Belarusian exports and imports. Temporary sanitary measures will be taken before it is launched to identify products that fail to meet uniform sanitary requirements or technical regulations. The Russian Ministry of Agriculture and the Belarusian Ministry of Agriculture and Food will be in charge of these activities under Mr Dvorkovich’s personal supervision.
