During the meeting the Deputy Prime Minister issued instructions to establish a working group on improving the salary system at the Ministry of Labour and Social Protection. Ms Golodets pointed to serious disproportions between salaries in different industries and called for formulating proposals to ensure “a normal pay for normal skilled labour in good working conditions.”

“General practitioners are a favoured profession in terms of salary even in the most developed labour systems, for example, in the United States,” she said.
The Deputy Prime Minister emphasised the need for closely monitoring the labour payment scheme and recalled that this year the Labour and Social Protection Ministry and the other socially-orientated ministries and departments in the Government had initiated several draft laws. In particular, the proposal to limit the salaries of top managers in publicly financed state establishments has been approved, and the Government is now discussing a draft law to limit the golden parachutes for the top executives of state companies and corporations.
