Deputy Prime Minister Arkady Dvorkovich has chaired a meeting of government officials and corporate executives to review the implementation of measures to minimise the negative consequences of a recent manmade flooding of a potassium and magnesium salt deposit on the Upper Kama. The deposit is based in the town of Berezniki, in the Perm Territory.
The participants included Perm Governor Viktor Basargin and other senior officials of the Perm regional government, as well as federal executives and top managers of companies such as Uralkalii, Kompleksnye Energeticheskiye Sistemy, OKhK Uralkhim, and Russian Railways (RZhD).
Speaking at the session, Governor Viktor Basargin reported on the latest developments surrounding the Berezniki deposit flooding and specifically on the measures being taken to deal with the aftermath.
The meeting also discussed the progress in the implementation of a resettlement programme for tenants of rundown residential blocks in 2013-2015. Mr Dvorkovich stressed the importance of keeping to the deadlines set. It was decided to explore all possible ways to meet the related financial obligations, including via funds from the federal treasury. The Deputy Prime Minister instructed the officials in charge to submit the relevant material as soon as possible.
