Joint Statement of the Canada-Russia Intergovernmental Economic Commission (IEC) Ninth Session
The meeting was conducted by the commission’s co-chairs, Russian Deputy Prime Minister Arkady Dvorkovich and Canada’s Edward Fast, Minister of International Trade and Minister for the Asia-Pacific Gateway.
The co-chairs expressed agreement that bilateral trade and economic cooperation should be intensified.
The results of the six working groups set up within the framework of the commission were presented at the meeting. The working groups focused on cooperation in mining, agriculture, construction, fuel and energy, space, and the Arctic and the North.
Paul Rollinson, CEO of the Canadian company Kinross Gold, gave a presentation on Kinross Gold’s investment experience in Russia. Denis Tikhonov, deputy head of the Tula Region’s government, presented a report on the Regional system of investment activity development in the Tula Region.
Simplifying the visa regime between the two nations was also discussed at the meeting.
