Deputy Prime Minister Arkady Dvorkovich took part in the 7th Russian-German raw materials conference in Dresden, devoted to the topic, Challenges of Modern Partnership in Raw Materials. In his opening address, Mr Dvorkovich said that “there can be no pause” in Russian-German relations, even in the event of disagreements. As far as cooperation in the area of energy and mineral resources is concerned, “the key stability factor is interdependence, which won’t allow for breaking economic relations because of political events.” He also noted that cooperation in this area affects energy and raw materials security. The Deputy Prime Minister added that political, economic and humanitarian cooperation as part of the relationship between the two countries is highly regarded in Russia. “We have many interesting and mutually beneficial projects in various spheres, primarily in the raw materials sector and mechanical engineering,” he said. Mr Dvorkovich mentioned that this cooperation includes partnership toward modernisation in the spheres of energy efficiency, energy, medical equipment and others.
“I’m confident that all German companies are seeking to expand cooperation, and politicians will support them sooner or later,” he said. He called upon German companies to engage in cooperation with the Russian regions: “with all 85 regions,” he said.
To demonstrate one of the new forms of cooperation, Arkady Dvorkovich presented education certificates for German students to study at the St Petersburg State Mining University, as well as to conduct joint research and development by the teaching staff at the university.
