Mikhail Mishustin: “Russia is among world leaders in this field. Support for the industry can significantly boost the development of science and promising technologies.”
Mikhail Mishustin’s opening remarks:
Colleagues,
Today we will discuss another essential topic — the development of Russia’s space activities. Russia is among world leaders in this field. Support for the industry can significantly boost the development of science and promising technologies.
Of course, our competitors are not staying still either. New countries and private businesses are striving to get into space. The Roscosmos state corporation, together with interested departments, has developed a respective national project to rise up to the challenges.
In order to fulfil the tasks the President set in his Executive Order issued in |May, the orbital satellite constellation must be increased several times over, which will significantly improve the quality of services for the state, citizens, and businesses.
We also have to establish serial production of up to 250 satellites per year. This approach will make it possible to reduce the cost of satellites, improve a number of technologies, and support the domestic production of component parts. It will also ensure a high level of space services, which is important for consumers.
In addition, we are set to create advanced orbital launch vehicles, switch to reusable launch vehicles and more environmentally friendly fuel, pursue essential scientific projects and improve the human resources potential of the industry.
The national project will include eight federal ones, such as the Comprehensive Development of State Information Technologies and the development of the high-tech area Advanced Space Systems and Services, which, should primarily be tailored for consumers of Earth remote sensing and communications data. To this end, satellite constellations are to be launched. It will be necessary to organise a serial production of spacecraft in order to address this task, that is, to scale up their production, which we constantly talk about.
Development of Russian Space Nuclear Energy will be another important federal project. It will be aimed at producing means for organising promising missions, including the exploration and development of the Moon.
Overall, the national project is aimed to increase the accessibility of communication services for a wide range of consumers regardless of their region, that is, extraterritorially, and to ensure the transition to a qualitatively new level of manned space exploration and fundamental research.
Space exploration has always needed a lot of resources, so private investments and public private partnerships are necessary when implementing all federal projects, alongside budget funding.
