Russian Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Patrushev met with Republic of Serbia Government Minister (Without Portfolio) Nenad Popovic on the sidelines of the St Petersburg International Economic Forum. The officials focused on expanding and strengthening Russia-Serbia cooperation.
According to the Deputy Prime Minister, Russia and Serbia are linked by relations of strategic partnership that relies on the cultural and historical similarity of both nations. “Today, in conditions of an unstable international political situation, your country remains a reliable partner and ally of Russia. The independent foreign policy line of Serbia makes it possible to establish equitable and mutually beneficial relations with all concerned states, including Russia and the EAEU in general. This positively influences trade parameters. In 2023, our trade volumes exceeded $2 billion,” Dmitry Patrushev noted. Foodstuffs account for an impressive share of Russia-Serbia trade. According to the results of 2023, the volume of mutual supplies between Russia and Serbia totalled nearly $500 million. Efforts to expand trade volumes and to diversify supplies are an important objective in this field. Close cooperation between both countries’ oversight agencies helps successfully accomplish it. This cooperation has allowed Serbia to obtain all the main Russian agricultural staples.
Summing up the results of the meeting, Dmitry Patrushev voiced his readiness to continue working actively to expand Russia-Serbia interaction in the agriculture sphere and in other economic sectors.
