Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Patrushev opened the unified stand dedicated to Siberia’s economic and investment potential, at the St Petersburg International Economic Forum (SPIEF).
In his opening remarks for the participants, Dmitry Patrushev stressed that every region of Siberia was unique in its own way.
“I believe you will agree with me: these regions do not only have geography and formal business ties in common. Your cooperation is an example of true partnership and even friendship. Perhaps this is why the stand is named “Greater Siberia,” highlighting strong unity. Of course, people – strong, determined and active – are at the heart of this community. It is the people who annually achieve high-quality results in various fields through their dedicated work,” the Deputy Prime Minister said.
According to Dmitry Patrushev, concentration of unique natural resources in Siberia is a pillar for economic development, above all the extractive industries. Siberia has gold and other precious metals, copper, nickel, coal, oil, gas and much more. It is Russia’s enormous wealth. The general task is to ensure their rational use.
The Deputy Prime Minister expressed confidence that the achievements of the district’s regions will grow from year to year. This is facilitated by the long-term teamwork of the Siberian Agreement interregional association, which represents their interests at the federal level. The Strategy for the Socio-economic Development of Siberia until 2035 will also contribute to further growth.
