The focus was on strengthening bilateral trade and economic cooperation.
During his visit to the Republic of Azerbaijan, Deputy Prime Minister Alexei Overchuk met with President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev. Their discussion focused on strengthening bilateral trade and economic cooperation.
The officials acknowledged the successful progressive development of Russian-Azerbaijani cooperation, which encompasses nearly all economic sectors and holds great potential for further growth.
In 2023, bilateral trade grew by 17.5 percent, thanks in part to joint efforts in boosting freight and transit shipments along the North-South international transport corridor, as well as expanding the capacity of border checkpoints between Russia and Azerbaijan.
Mr Overchuk and Mr Aliyev emphasised the importance of signing an action plan (roadmap) detailing the main areas of Russian-Azerbaijani cooperation for 2024–2026.
Additionally, the meeting participants addressed other issues of mutual interest for both the Russian Federation and the Republic of Azerbaijan.
