Deputy Prime Minister Olga Golodets has held a nationwide teleconference at the Government House’s Situations Centre. She heard reports by the social bloc ministers and representatives of regional executive bodies on key issues of social policy.
The meeting’s agenda included the discussion of measures aimed at reducing mortality of the population and of the results of signing agreements on granting federal budget subsidies to the Russian regions for the modernisation of regional preschool education systems.
During the meeting, Education and Science Minister Dmitry Livanov reported that as of August 1, agreements had been signed with all Russian regions for the allocation of additional funding for the construction and modernisation of kindergartens on condition of co-financing. The federal budget provided 53 billion roubles for the purpose. Currently, 41 regions have already received 23.7 billion roubles. The other 41 regions will obtain 29.3 billion roubles on August 7.
There are plans to create an additional 336,000 kindergarten places in 2013, which will satisfy 30% of the total demand.
