Over 30 two-level interchanges have been built in Sochi as the city prepares to host the 2014 Winter Olympics and implements a programme to develop a mountain resort, Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Kozak said during the opening ceremony for the Airport interchange on federal route A148 linking Adler to Krasnaya Polyana. The Deputy Prime Minister said that the new interchange is a crucial element of the Olympic transport infrastructure, conveniently linking the Sochi Airport, Krasnaya Polyana and Adler. The cost of the construction totalled 1.8 billion roubles.
The Deputy Prime Minister went on to note the major impact the new interchanges have had on the city’s transport system and environment.
“By working together for the last five years, we have managed to implement this large-scale programme to modernise the transport infrastructure,” Mr Kozak said.
Dmitry Kozak also told journalists that the International Sochi Investment Forum, which has already become a traditional event, will be hosted in September 2013 by Olympic venues in the Imereti Valley. The Deputy Prime Minister emphasised that this year’s economic forum will be held at an even higher level. The forum will serve as a test of whether facilities and administrative bodies are prepared for the Olympics.
