Zhang Dejiang (via interpreter): I would like to begin by welcoming you to China on behalf of the National People’s Congress of the People’s Republic of China. This is our third meeting. It can be said that we are old friends. We in China very much appreciate your visit. This morning, Premier of the State Council of the People’s Republic of China Li Keqiang and you held the 22nd regular meeting of the prime ministers of Russia and China, where you reached a major agreement. You also had a meeting with President Xi Jinping after that. The National People’s Congress of China and the Russian parliament’s houses − the State Duma and the Federation Council – maintain friendly cooperation. Please, convey my best regards and good wishes to speakers [Valentina] Matviyenko and [Vyacheslav] Volodin.
Dmitry Medvedev: Mr Chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People’s Congress of the People’s Republic of China Zhang Dejiang, colleagues and comrades. I am happy to have this opportunity for a new meeting and for discussing the progress of the Russia-China dialogue, including at the inter-parliamentary level. It is true that we have met several times. I believe that such interaction is extremely important. Today we held the 22nd meeting of the heads of government to discuss our strategic partnership. This includes the development of economic ties, large investment projects and cultural cooperation. Our parliaments, specifically the National People’s Congress of China and the Russian parliament’s State Duma and Federation Council, contribute to all aspects of our cooperation. Ms Matviyenko and Mr Volodin send their regards and best wishes.
