Excerpts from Dmitry Medvedev’s speech at the closing ceremony for the years of the Russian and Chinese media
We are concluding the years of the Russian and Chinese media. During these two years, we have come a long way and we are looking towards the future. The work we have done represents the strategic character of Russian-Chinese relations. Russia enjoys a greater level of cooperation with China than any other country.
The years’ programme included over 250 events and projects.
Our largest national media took part in holding the years of the Russian and Chinese media. Regional media were able to communicate directly with their Chinese colleagues at annual media forums and joint exhibitions.
Visit
We held book fairs in Beijing and Moscow. The project, Ten Masterpieces of Chinese Literature in Russia and Ten Masterpieces of Russian Literature in China, evoked great interest.
Another very important achievement is that we showed contemporary Russian films to the Chinese audience. In Russia, we know and like Chinese films, including documentaries.
Russia and China are not just countries with developed media. We are the countries that use all the most advanced information systems.
The most valuable things we have reached over a period of these two years are contacts, friendly communications and joint projects and programmes. All of them contributen to friendly relations between Russia and China; these relations are at an unprecedentedly high level. The quality work of the media will help our countries get closer and develop a better understanding of each other.
Our cooperation is now developing in the area of information. Therefore, we are closing the years of the Russian and Chinese media with an understanding that it is the beginning of a new era of cooperation.
