Dear friends,
Welcome to Thessaloniki! Allow me to congratulate you on the opening of the 81st International Fair.
Russia and Greece have for centuries been connected not only by strong spiritual and historical bonds but also by productive trade, economic, cultural and humanitarian cooperation. Reciprocal ‘year of culture’ festivals, which are a great success, are a shining example of our close collaboration. The same can be said of Russia’s years-long participation in the Thessaloniki Fair.
The Fair has evolved into a significant international event. Due to its grand scale and modern exhibition space, each year it draws the attention of representatives of major companies from different countries, primarily from the Balkan Peninsula, while its activities contribute to the development of the modern economy.
This year our country is an honoured guest of the International Fair. The Russian pavilion displays industrial products, the newest inventions and high-tech projects in a variety of fields – from energy to agriculture. Many of our leading companies, including Gazprom, RZhD and Rostec, as well as regions – the Republic of Tatarstan and Stavropol Territory – are demonstrating their achievements and capabilities. The business programme includes themed roundtables, presentations and a business forum.
I am confident that the Fair will further advance Russian-Greek relations. It will help demonstrate the export and investment potential of Russian companies, and provide an opportunity to share experience and sign mutually beneficial contracts. Visitors to the Russian pavilion will get the full experience of traditional Russian hospitality.
I wish you productive work, stimulating discussions, success and all the very best.
Dmitry Medvedev
