Excerpt from Dmitry Medvedev’s opening remarks at a Government meeting.
Dmitry Medvedev: As you know, special economic measures with respect to the Republic of Turkey have been approved. The import of certain food products and agricultural produce has been banned. Starting January 1, 2016, the visa-free regime for Turkish citizens holding ordinary passports will be suspended. Moreover, also starting next year, Russian employers will not be allowed to hire any more Turkish nationals.
I signed a resolution listing the Russian companies and organisations that will be exempt from this ban. There are some exceptions. When working on this decision, we considered the suggestions of the involved ministries and regions. The companies not listed in this resolution will be prohibited from hiring Turkish nationals. Also, I would like to receive as soon as possible a list of contracts, works and services involving companies within Turkish jurisdiction or controlled by Turkish companies. The document must be finalised and submitted to the Government for signing.
