The resolution has been prepared by the Federal Service for State Statistics in accordance with Clause 2, Article 9 of the Federal Law On International Treaties of the Russian Federation.
The agreement has been drafted to clarify the powers of the Eurasian Economic Commission stipulated in Article 6 of the Treaty On the Eurasian Economic Commission dated November 18, 2011 to request from government agencies of the Republic of Belarus, the Republic of Kazakhstan, and the Russian Federation, as well as legal entities and individuals, information required for implementing the commission's functions related to official statistics.
The document stipulates the powers of the commission to collect, compile, collate, and analyse the statistical information of the Customs Union and the Common Economic Space, to provide this information upon the request of the parties, and to coordinate the information and methodological cooperation between the authorised agencies of the parties. These powers of the commission do not apply to the official statistical information of the parties, which is considered classified or state secrets.
The implementation of this agreement will allow the commission to work in close cooperation with the authorised agencies of the parties to improve the statistical methodology and to classify it in accordance with international standards, and will ensure the collection, compilation, systematisation, and analysis of statistical information that reflects the socio-economic development and integration processes in the member-states of the Customs Union and the Common Economic Space.
