The Federal Service for Intellectual Property (Rospatent) is a federal executive body providing legal protection for state interests with regard to the results of military, special and dual-purpose research and development and technological work. Rospatent oversees the legal protection of intellectual property rights relating to the results of military, special and dual-purpose research and development and technological work undertaken with federal budget funding. It is also responsible for control and supervision of state contractors and organisations in this area which work under government contracts in research and development and technological work. In addition, Rospatent is responsible for state services in the legal protection of inventions, utility models, industrial prototypes, computer software, databases and topology of integrated circuits, including those that are part of an integral technology, trademarks, service marks, appellations of origin of goods and legal regulation of issues pertaining to the control, supervision and provision of government services in this area.
